We have many activities and events during the month of December. Please read through all of the following  information and if you have any questions, please send me an email.

This Friday, December 9th, we will be having our GATE Space Day.  Thank you to those parents who have signed up, on the class blog,  to volunteer and bring items to make this a successful culmination.  There are still spots available if you still want to donate items for Space Day. (Click Here)

The students have been working on a Science Independent Project during computer time.  They received the Independent Project instructions over 3 weeks ago.  The final project is due on Tuesday, Dec. 13th.

We finished the first math book and I am proud of how well the students did with the Algebraic Expressions, Coordinates,  and Order of Operation concepts.  We are starting in the 2nd Math book this week and the first unit is all about fractions.

Thank you to those of you who have already turned in your $290 Astrocamp payment.  If you have not done so, please turn in the payment before the holiday break.

We will be starting ‘coding’ this week on the computers.  This activity is called ‘Hour of Code’ and students are starting it all over the nation, this week.  This is a fun activity that students can also continue at home.

Our class holiday party will be on Thursday, December 15th after lunch. We will be doing a couple of games and having pizza and drinks.  Please send in $3 to help cover the cost of pizza, drinks, paper goods, and game prizes.  During the holiday party, we will be having a

$5 Sock Exchange.  If your child wants to participate, please bring in a wrapped pair of $5 socks by Wednesday, Dec. 14th. (The socks should be able to be worn by a boy or a girl)

We will also be having the class auction on Thursday, Dec. 15th.  This is when the students can use their “Fisler Bucks” to buy real things.   I spend a lot of my own money to purchase over a 100 items for this auction and if you also want to donate items, that a fifth grade boy or girl would like, that would be greatly appreciated!  

December 16th is the last day before the holiday break and the students will be dismissed at 12:20.  Report Cards will be sent home that day.
