Parent Conference Sign Up - CLICK HERE

Here is the recent email that I just sent out.  Please tell me if you are not receiving my emails:

  It has been a great year so far and I have really enjoyed getting to you know your children.  

Here are some class updates:

1) Parent Conferences are during the week of October 24th - 27th.  Please sign up on the Blog for your conference time.  Please check your time and make sure that it works for you.    My  blog is  -     2016-17Fisler5thgraders.blogspot.com

1) Wax Museum Project - The students received an outline on the Wax Museum Project that is due the week before Thanksgiving.  Please make sure you ask your child to show you this outline.  We will give the students a lot of time to work on their research in class, but they will need to purchase a Tri-fold or poster board to display their research.  They will also need to dress up like their historical figure when they present for the parents and the other students during the week of November 14th - 17th.  I will tell you the exact date and time that our class will present soon. 

2) S.S. - We just took an Explorer Test and the students will get their grades back in their Take Home Tuesday Folder.  

3) Reading - Blood on the River - We will finish the book this week and we will have a quiz and a few culminating activities to go along with the completion of the book.

4) Science - We are working on Science Extreme Slides on Google Docs now and reading chapter 5 in the Science Book.

5) Writing - We have been focusing on paraphrasing and putting expository writing into their own words.  We are also doing creative writing and poetry.  I have many talented authors.

6) Math - We usually get through a chapter in one to two weeks.  Every time we complete a chapter we will take a test.  The recent test will in their Take Home Tuesday folders. Students are welcome to take home their math books anytime, so you can see what we are doing.  We do not do every single page but we skip around since we are on a faster pace to finish the 5th grade math standards so we can get to the 6th grade math standards. 

7) Volunteering - If you want to volunteer, please get the forms in the office to fill out. Thank you!!
